What is the Full Moon Walk?
As local drivers with over 12 years of experience, we've taken hundreds of tourists to and from the Full Moon Walk. It is, without a doubt, the most unique experience offered by Iguazú National Park. When night falls and the full moon illuminates the Falls, the Devil's Throat transforms into something you won't see anywhere else in the world.
The park closes to the general public at sunset. But during full moon nights, Iguazú Argentina (the official concessionaire) organizes a guided nighttime walk for small groups. You walk along the boardwalks over the Upper Iguazú River in silence, with the roar of water as the only soundtrack and the silver moonlight reflecting off the mist.
This isn't just another park visit. It's a completely different sensory experience: no artificial lights, no crowds, no loudspeakers. Just you, the moon, and the Falls.

Check-in at the Park Entrance
You check in at the access portal. We recommend arriving 20-30 minutes before your time slot.
Welcome at the Service Plaza
You can have dinner before the walk at the Tucán restaurant: burgers, empanadas, wraps, and drinks. Restrooms and lockers available.
Guaraní Choir Performance
Before departure, a choir from the Mbya Guaraní community performs traditional songs. An emotional moment connecting with the region's indigenous culture.
Ecological Train through the Jungle
From the Central Station to the Devil's Throat Station. The train crosses the jungle at night — the nocturnal sounds are completely different from daytime.
Guided Boardwalk over the Upper Iguazú River
Walk along the metal boardwalks with no artificial lighting: the moon and stars are your only light. The guide points out features along the way.
Devil's Throat Balcony
The climax. You reach the balcony and see the Devil's Throat bathed in moonlight. The mist rises illuminated by the moon, and if humidity is high enough, you might see a moonbow (lunar rainbow). Indescribable.
Return by train
You ride back to the Central Station and exit through the portal. Your transfer will be waiting in the parking lot.
Local tip: If you're lucky and humidity is high, you might see a moonbow (lunar rainbow) at the Devil's Throat. It's one of the few places in the world where this phenomenon occurs. More common during summer months when the mist is heaviest.

The night transfer: what nobody tells you
This is where many tourists run into trouble. The National Park is 18 km from downtown Puerto Iguazú and there's no reliable public transport at night. The road runs through jungle with no street lighting. Not a route to improvise.
How it works with Cataratas Taxi: We pick you up at your hotel (downtown, Route 12, or riverbank) with enough time to arrive before check-in. We wait in the park's parking lot throughout the walk. Warm layer (essential)
Nighttime temperatures drop 8-10°C compared to daytime. In winter it can reach 5-10°C.
Closed shoes with grip
Boardwalks may be wet from mist. No flip-flops or sandals.

Mosquitoes are active at night during summer and fall.

Flash is prohibited. Night mode or long-exposure photos come out spectacular.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need the general park ticket plus the Full Moon Walk ticket?
No. The Full Moon Walk ticket is independent from the general park entry. You don't need to have visited the park during the day. They are two separate experiences.
Can the walk still happen if it's cloudy?
It depends on the degree of cloud cover. With partial clouds, the walk goes ahead — the experience is still incredible even when the moon hides momentarily. If there's a storm or extreme cloud cover, it's cancelled with options to reschedule or get a refund.
Is there somewhere to eat inside the park before the walk?
Yes. At the Service Plaza, the Tucán restaurant offers burgers, choripanes (chorizo sandwiches), empanadas, wraps, and drinks. It's open before the time slots begin.
What time does the walk end?
Depends on your slot. The first slot (7:45 PM) ends around 10:15 PM. The last slot (9:15 PM) ends around 11:30-11:45 PM. Factor in the drive back to your hotel.
Is winter or summer better for the Full Moon Walk?
Both have their charm. Winter (June-August) is colder but skies are usually clearer — sharper moonlight. Summer (December-March) has heavier mist, increasing chances of seeing a moonbow, but also more mosquitoes and heat.
