How to Get from IGR Airport to Your Hotel in Puerto Iguazú

Travel guide · Published: April 30, 2026

Quick summary

Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport (IGR) is 22 km from downtown Puerto Iguazú, about 20-25 minutes by car. Options to get to your hotel include private transfer, local taxi and shared shuttle. There is no Uber or Cabify. For most tourists, a pre-booked private transfer is the most practical option: fixed fare agreed in advance, complimentary flight tracking and a driver waiting with your name at arrivals.

Private transfer: the most practical option

Private transfer advantages

  • Flight tracking included: if your flight is delayed, the driver waits at no extra charge.
  • Fixed fare: agreed before travel, no surprises on arrival.
  • Door-to-door: drops you at your hotel entrance, not at a common drop-off point.
  • Available 24 hours: works for early morning flights.
  • Child seat available: at no extra charge, request when booking.
  • Identified driver: name sign, backup contact number.

We recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance. During peak season (January, July, Easter) even earlier is better. Payment is made to the driver at the end of the service.

Taxi from IGR Airport

When a taxi makes sense

  • You are traveling solo or as a couple with little luggage
  • You do not have a fixed schedule or flight to track
  • You prefer not to pre-book

Taxi drawbacks

  • No flight tracking
  • Groups of 3+ may need two taxis
  • During high demand there may be a queue

Shared shuttle: the most affordable option

The shared shuttle is the most affordable option, but wait times can be 20 to 40 additional minutes. It does not depart on a fixed schedule: it waits until there is enough demand.

Note: they do not make intermediate stops at the National Park. If your hotel is on the route to the falls, they will likely drop you in the center and you will need to take another transport.

Is there Uber at Iguazú Airport?

No. Uber, Cabify and DiDi do not operate in Puerto Iguazú. If you arrive at IGR airport expecting to request an Uber, you will not find any available drivers. The only private transport options are licensed taxis, remises and transfer services like Cataratas Taxi.

Tips for arriving at the airport

1. Confirm your transfer booking 48 hours before by sending a message to the contact number.
2. Keep the WhatsApp number handy: if you are delayed getting through immigration, you can let them know.
3. For groups of 5-15 people, ask about vans (Peugeot Partner, 5 pax) or minibus (Renault Master, 15 pax) when booking.
4. International tourists: note that the exchange rate for paying in USD or BRL is agreed upon when booking.
5. Late night or early morning flights: the private transfer is the only guaranteed option at those hours.
6. If your flight is delayed more than 2 hours, the driver still waits — flight tracking is included.
7. If you are going straight to the park from the airport, it is only 10-15 minutes away. You can visit before checking in to your hotel.

Conclusion

For most tourists arriving at IGR Airport, the private transfer is the most practical option: fare agreed in advance, no queues, flight tracking and door-to-door service. For 1-2 people without time pressure, the local taxi also works well. The shared shuttle is the cheapest option but with less predictable schedules. Uber is not a real option in Puerto Iguazú.
